Diarycast

00:02.000 --> 00:07.000
[INTRO MUSIC]

00:07.000 --> 00:17.000
Hi, I'm Damon Hart-Davis and welcome to Earth Notes Podcast on all things eco and green and efficient at home!

00:17.000 --> 00:20.000
23rd May 2020.

00:20.000 --> 00:24.000
A now slightly less unusual episode, almost without words.

00:24.000 --> 00:34.000
In the spirit of the Orkney Library Haiku mini-competition on Twitter: Sunny Saturday // Invisible Lockdown Walls // Ambient Podcast.

00:34.000 --> 00:43.000
Who knew that Haiku could terminate with archipelagoes or even coronavirus, maybe making a "haikoronaviru"?

00:43.000 --> 00:53.000
The last few days have been pretty warm (up to 27 degrees C - vest weather) and sunny, so electricity imports have remained low, well under 1kWh per day.

00:53.000 --> 01:04.000
Lockdown demand is low enough and renewables generation high enough in Great Britain that renewable energy may be switched off as demand plummets over this bank holiday lockdown weekend.

01:04.000 --> 01:15.000
This episode is about my new attempt to capture ambient back garden sounds during a suburban dawn chorus at 16WW, but as a little warm up I have some dusk clips too.

01:15.000 --> 01:25.000
At dawn, 4am, 0300 hours UTC, the temperature was about 11 degrees C and there was an intermittent light breeze.

01:25.000 --> 01:34.000
The sky was just getting light, other than the odd intrusive motor vehicle sound that was not much direct human noise. Enjoy!
